A Look Back At The 6th International Model Railway Exhibition From 4th-6th November
- Berlin's Biggest Exhibition Across 4,000m² -
Around 9,000 people visited the International Model Railway Exhibition at the FEZ Berlin in November, which was the 6th edition of the bi-annual attraction. We were particularly delighted about the event's popularity amongst families with children, with nearly 50% of our visitors falling into this category.
Around 30 models were presented, ranging from miniscule to massive with exhibitors coming from the Netherlands, Poland and Germany. The layouts, meanwhile, included scenes from the American Wild West, France, Norway, Poland, and Germany.
In total, over 500 sets were constructed by the various experts, with model railway companies, Auhagen and Piko playing a particularly prominent role.
Information workshops in the FEZ Foyer relating to digital technology and virtual model railways were also very well attended.
Also well represented were a variety of dealers, museums and companies associated with model railway accessories, tools and books, as well as the DEV (German Railway Club), the Pressnitzalbahn Light Railway and the Berliner Parkeisenbahn Light Railway. We were also very pleased to welcome Anita Dekor and MKR Modellbau for the first time.
Additionally a competition saw several interesting prizes, provided by manufacturers and model railway traders, make their way to their lucky new owners. At the end of the event, attendees once again had the chance to vote for their favourite constructions.
Overall, we can now reflect upon another succesful International Model Railway Exhibition with total visitor numbers continuing their upward trend, outstripping numbers from 2014. Above all though, the exhibition can only take place with the kind support of the various manufacturers, the VGB Verlag and local collectors.
We thank the following for their generous support:
Auhagen, Conrad, Liliput, Tillig, Piko, Viessmann-Kibri
as well as the following model railway traders:
Modellbahnbox Karlshorst, Modellbahnen am Mierendorffplatz, Modellbahn Atelier Berlin and the Eisenbahn-Sammlershop.
The 7th International Model Railway Exhibition will take place from 9th to 11th November 2018. Potential exhibitors and other participants can enquire now about taking part.
